We’re proud to welcome back a true pioneer. A master of experimental sound design and underground ritual. This is Evil Oil Man’s first show in Melbourne since 2018, and it’s shaping up to be one for the books.

Matthew Swain, aka Evil Oil Man, is a music producer from the south-east of England who has worked alongside Zenon Records as a label artist since 2013.

His sound can be described as deep and experimental, merging modernistic and ethnic soundscapes. It holds an abstract and unique presence, influenced by a wide spectrum of music genres that encompass psy-trance, techno, dark progressive trance and bass music.

A truly international artist, Evil Oil Man has grooved dance floors across the globe with tours through Australia, Brazil, Mexico, North America, and all across Europe. His music has been featured at some of the most respected festivals on the planet, including Boom Festival, Ozora, Lost Theory, Universo Paralello, Earth Frequency, Utopia Landing, Ometeotl, Symbiosis Gathering, Hadra, Noisily, Boomtown, and Modem.

He has released four full-length albums, countless singles, and has worked with some of the most respected names in underground music, including Vini Vici, Ace Ventura, Freedom Fighters, Grouch, Staunch, Hypogeo, Kaya Project, Whitebear, Dirty Hippy, Chris Rich, Airi, Klipsun, Breger, and many more.

With music always in the pipeline, Matthew continues to craft strange new combinations of ear-pleasing music, always pushing the envelope to create something bold, emotive, and entirely his own.
